On 07 January 2011, Etibar Yusifov of Sabirabad, Azerbaijan became the recipient of the first Bahoudii Crown Trust Microloan for 2011. Etibar Yusifov is 26 year-old young man who has a cattle-breeding business in his settlement. Etibar and his family are refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh. He, his wife and their two year old son live in a small refugee settlement for families in the Sabirabad region. The hardships of being refugees made it difficult to support the family so Etibar decided to start his own livestock-breeding business in 2008. Since that time he has done well and he is using this loan administered by Aqroinvest and Kiva to buy two more cows to add to his current five. Etibar and his family also breed other animals and Etibar foresees a bright future for his cattle-breeding business and is sure that having more cows will allow him to further increase his family's income. He is a diligent man who plans to buy ten more cows after repaying this loan. This MicroLoan was made under our agreement with www.kiva.org and has been disbursed through AqroInvest Credit Union - a Kiva partner since May of 2007 - Aqroinvest CU is one of the biggest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It was founded by 32 farmers in 2001. Its main purpose is to provide financial support to union members, assist low-income people in developing their businesses and improve their living conditions through the provision of financial services. Aqroinvest CU operates in 5 rural regions of Azerbaijan through its branches established in the villages of those districts. It has 1115 members, 52 percent of whom are refugees, 40 percent are female, and 80 percent are farmers.
