A nation in our midstAbout the Principality of Snake Hill "Down Under". The Principality of Snake Hill which is 1.6 square kilometres in size, was founded in September 2003 after Australian residents decided to secede from the nation on the basis litigation over economics with Australia. The Principality claims some 200 citizens from around the world, and claims to have "...acted as a negotiator between two major countries for an oil treaty...”, "...been offered nuclear arms...", "...had dealings with the United Nations and World Trade Organisation...", and now claims to be “...looking to start exporting wine and honey...”. It's said that they do not pay their rates to the MidWestern Regional Council, but we could find no confirmation of that and the article says they got no response from the Council either.
