In accordance with the Seborgan Codes of Law ("Statuti Generali"), the Council of the Priors and the Council of the Crown selected two candidates from among five possible candidates. The two candidates have had time to consider the nomination and submit the names of four reliable ministers they wish to appoint. Now, the voting is over. The Principality of Seborga has a new and young Prince. Long Live the Prince!
Here are the results of the voting : Subjects entitled to vote: 220 Reports have been recieved of protests from some residents of Seborga relating to the possibility that they were refused at the polls for not being eligible to vote because they did not possess the Principality of Seborga identity card. Soon after the results of the election were made public, the new Prince thanked all Seborgans and said: "...I will create new infrastructures and new jobs for our citizens. I will reorganize the governement, our general laws and our old documents. Regarding our independence, I will continue the fight (started by Giorgio I). My dream is to se Seborga becoming a real Principality..." The newly elected Prince Marcello has chosen four Ministers of Confidence:
His Majesty's Government has forwarded congratulations from the Throne to the new Prince. The Ministry of State has released the contents of His Majesty's communication and has confirmed its receipt by Bn Jean-Philippe Arnotte for the Seborga Diplomatic and Consular Corpse (sic). His Majesty's message was as follows: Greetings and Felicitations to All and Whom the Presents Come; Your Royal Highnesses Prince Marcello Menegatto of Seborga; May we extend congratulations to His Highness on his election. This is a momentous occasion for the Principality of Seborga. The peaceful transfer of authority today within the Sovereign Principality of Seborga reaffirms for us the continuity of Seborga's heroic tradition and reaffirms Our faith that a small Nation/State can exist in today's world. We are confident that His Highness, like His Tremendousness Giorgio Carbone, will rise to meet any challenges with wisdom. We wish His Highness good health and strength to carry out his duties with courage and conviction.
